Quit Teams completely and reopen it. If that doesn't help, reset the Teams app (which clears its cache) and sign in again. If Teams works in a web browser but not the app, the problem is the app on that computer.
Common causes
Corrupted cache
Teams stores data locally, and corrupted cache causes blank screens and loading loops.
Sign-in problems
Expired tokens or saved credentials cause sign-in loops.
Outdated app
Older Teams versions stop working correctly.
Network or VPN blocking
Firewalls, proxies, or VPNs can block Teams services.
Microsoft service issue
Occasionally Teams has an outage.
How to fix it, step by step
- 1
Fully quit and reopen
Right-click Teams in the taskbar's hidden icons and choose Quit, then open it again.
- 2
Try Teams on the web
Go to teams.microsoft.com. If it works, the desktop app needs attention.
- 3
Reset the Teams app
In Settings > Apps > Installed apps, open Microsoft Teams > Advanced options and choose Reset.
- 4
Sign out and back in
Sign out of Teams and clear Office credentials if sign-in loops continue.
- 5
Check Microsoft service health
Your administrator can check the Microsoft 365 service health page for outages.

Frequently asked questions
Will resetting Teams delete my chats?
No. Chats and files are stored in Microsoft 365, not on your computer.
Why does Teams work on my phone but not my computer?
The computer's Teams app or its cache is the problem. Resetting the app usually fixes it.
Does Teams need a fast internet connection?
Chat needs very little. Video meetings need a steady connection with low packet loss.
